Why choose to move your family to Mahtomedi?

Mahtomedi Mn. has a lot to offer young families.

Mahtomedi Mn is a lakeside community rooted on the east and southeast shores of historic White Bear Lake.

Mahtomedi was originally a community of cottages and summer homes on White Bear Lake. The city grew when the St. Paul and Duluth Railroad connected the city to St. Paul in the 1870s. Additionally, the Minneapolis and St. Paul Suburban Railroad Company reached Mahtomedi in 1892, with streetcar service beginning in 1899.

This service by Twin City Rapid Transit solidified Mahtomedi's reputation as a recreation destination, and the Wildwood Amusement Park was established on the shores of White Bear Lake. The trolley line ran through the city and brought people to go not only to the park, but also to the Piccadilly Restaurant. The park went out of business during the Great Depression. The Piccadilly, renowned as a haunt for gangsters during Prohibition, remained open until December 31, 2005.

Mahtomedi is home to Minnesota's number one school district and features the team mascot the Zephyrs.

Herb Brooks Head coach of the Miracle on Ice Olympic Gold Medal Team called Mahtomedi home for many years.

Mahtomedi is also home to fine dining restaurants cozy Italian deli style diners and a summer long farmers market for healthy living.

Mahtomedi boasts several parks such as Catherine Abbott Park and easy access to the Gateway Trail which stretches from St Paul Mn to Scandia MN.

Mahtomedi has an old rich history of gangsters from another era and is featured in the best selling book Dillinger Slept Here, highlighting some of the speakeasy's and hangouts Dillinger, Ma Barker and the Barker Gang and more hung out in. And Mahtomedi featured one of the areas first summer theme parks, Wild Wood Amusement Park. The historic Lakeside Restaurant's facade was featured in the Cohen Bro's classic movie Fargo.

Mahtomedi is conveniently located just off of hwy 694 and hwy 36 which gives you easy access to both downtowns of Mpls. and St Paul as well as access to the great north country of MN and WI.
